My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Dachshund
DOB: 2010
Sex: Spayed Female
Weight: 16 pounds

When I came to the shelter, I had a really bad skin infection and I had a lot of sores. No one came to claim me so now I am in a foster home where I was given pills every day and baths to help me heal. Most of the scabs from my sores are gone now and I feel much better.

This being in a house seems strange to me and I was really scared to go outside at first. I can’t do steps real well but there is a ramp here so I only have to take one step to get in and out. Now I like to go in and out with the other dogs and my foster mom. She tells me that I do need to learn to only potty outside so I am trying to figure that out but sometimes I use these blue and white sheets she lays down on the floor.

I do like it when people talk nice to me and I am learning not to run away when you reach to pet me. When it is time for me to eat, I get really excited and I jump around like a very happy dog.

My foster mom says she feels bad for me that I had a lot of litters of puppies. But I don’t have to worry about that any longer and she says I will soon learn that it is a great life to get attention from humans every day rather than just when I had puppies.

I haven’t met any cats since I have been here but I get along great with other dogs. I didn’t mind the children who gave me attention at adoption events but I am not sure how it would be to live with them all the time. Quiet and calm children probably wouldn’t bother me but thunder scares me so a loud and active household might also make me nervous. I would like someone to adopt me who will let me keep my blankie. I love to burrow under it when I take my naps and when I sleep at night!
