PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONSIDERING TRAJAN. TRAJAN CAME FROM A HOARDING CASE AND HAS VERY SPECIAL NEEDS.
Hi Everyone! My adoption fee has been reduced to $100! My awesome caretakers at the shelter say I have been here way too long. They are hoping this will help me find my furever family. Please fill out an application to adopt me today!
Trajan was taken in by Furkids with a group of dogs as part of a hoarding case. Television has brought animal hoarding into our living rooms, but until you have spent time with the victims of hoarding, in this case the dogs, you have only seen the tip of the iceberg. Trajan was born into a severely overcrowded situation. He never received the critical early socialization with humans. He was, in effect, raised solely by other dogs. Trajan is terrified of humans. He is not shy; he is terrified! Growing up in a hoard, Trajan has been well socialized with dogs and played well with other small dogs and cats when he was in a foster home. Trajan has a long way to go in learning to trust humans. He desperately needs an adopter who is experienced with very fearful or unsocialized dogs. Time and patience are the two things that will help Trajan learn to trust. Break his trust and take five giant steps back. This process cannot be rushed. Trajan will move forward in his own time. If you have the skills to help this frightened little fellow, please give him a chance.
Update from the shelter: He hovers, sometimes gives a little lick to the hand, tugs at my hair if he can get a little grasp with his teeth, even tugged at my shirt one day, just to play!! He too loves treats, but is quirky about drinking water out of a bowl. He does a little dance around it and will take a sip or two then back away and go again. He again needs a patient adopter who will go slow and let him get acclimated to his surroundings. He has improved since he was first brought into the shelter. He didn't move out from under the desk at all if someone was in there. He too gets along with other dogs, as a matter of fact I think having another dog in the home would be a good thing for him.
Trajan’s estimated birthdate is 10/1/2014. If you want to know more about Beast and to speak to an Adoption Counselor, please complete an application at https://furkids.org/dog-adoptions/application. Must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
