My name is Dante! I have quite a story and am very happy to finally be ready for a home of my own. You see, I was rescued almost a year ago as a little pup from a county shelter. I began to show signs of incontinence and my fosters were not sure if this was a training issue or medical issue. After many months of seeing specialists and different vets, we learned that I was most likely born with a genetic disorder that causes some incontinence. But the great news is that with a regular schedule I can be a great family pet! I will do best in a home where I can be outdoors much of the day with proper shelter of course, and where I can be with my family inside at night. A playmate would be preferred because I am such a social guy and love to play. I have been placed in a fabulous foster home where I am thriving and we know what my special needs are! Here is more on my amazing personality:

My foster mom says I am such a joy to foster. I get along great with other dogs, and love to play with their 10-year-old daughter. I love being outdoors, and want a large yard to play in. I don't bark a lot, only when someone is walking outside the fence just to let my foster family know someone is there. I need (and do well on) a very regular feeding schedule. This is important for me because it helps me eliminate on a regular basis outside so that I can have time inside with my family and stay inside at night in my crate. I sleep quietly through the night, too. I am playful and fun and everyone says I am the biggest sweetheart! I love to chew on my toys as well. So what do you say? With the right home, I will be an amazing and loyal family pet. If you can fulfill my dreams and needs, please email for more information.

**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the Adopt page of our website,

About Habitat 4 Paws

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.

Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Nearly every weekend our pets that are ready for adoption are featured at locations such as Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other locations. We can also arrange visits throughout the week. Check out the Events page of our website for a current schedule of events:

Our Adoption Process...

Dogs are $200
Puppies under 1 year are $250
Cats and kittens are $120

All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.

Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.

We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.

If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.
