8-25-16 Mya is returned to rescue.
6-12-16 Mya has a pending adoption.
7-9-15 Mya comes into rescue as an owner surrender, due to her being deaf and finding out after the fact that she is three legged due to an injury at 3 months old which the breeder did not treat.
The owner did not know she was deaf when she got her, supposedly. So then, the rescue only gets part of the story as well. Then the paperwork and x-rays are withheld. It seems that FHO surgery was done at 8 months old. Yet, it did not heal correctly and no rehab was done. So, at 14 months old, the rescue had the FHO Repair surgery done for her. Finding out the morning of the surgery, that she also has a luxating patella, grade 4, which (according to that particular vet) will also need repair after the hip is healed.
The rescue had two more opinions, after her FHO surgery, and both of those vets (who we have previously worked with and trust more than the one(s) who did the surgery) agreed that taking off the knee cap and reattaching (because of the previous neglect) could make her unable to use her leg at all and make it worse. Therefore, we are opting to let her be the dog as she is very happy now.
Our adoption fee ($250) covers the age appropriate spay / neutering, heart worm testing, rabies, distemper combo, microchipping and any other necessary medical that a dog may need. Please consider a rescue that comes to you with all of the routine medical (and then some) already done.Â
