Peter's Story...
Introducing Peter. Peter was found late May wandering around an elementary school. A teacher at the school(who happened to be a WAR foster and adopter) asked us for help. Long story short, Peter quickly became a WAR baby. When he first joined us he was underweight, full of intestinal parasites, heartworm positive, and his beautiful white fur was yellow with filth. Despite the fact that Peter probably never had a home- he adjusted rather quickly. He adores other dogs, is housetrained, and loves his tennis ball. Peter is great on a leash and overall pretty laid back and even tempered. Peter is about 8 months old and about 30 lbs. Since he was so underweight when we rescued him, he has some catching up to do. We expect him to get bigger but he definitely will not be as large as a purebred German Shepherd. Peter up to date on vaccines, and has now completed heartworm treatment, all that's missing is his forever family. Peter's adoption fee is $500 and includes his yearly vaccines(including rabies and bordetella), deworming, microchip, neuter, completed heartworm treatment, and transport from Memphis to Chicago area. Please email us for more information on sweet Pete.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peter, a Chicago German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Chicago, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
