My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you talkin' da me? Yeah, it's Tookie. That's Wookie with a "T." I'm a big, strong, furry, warm critter with a heart to match. All I need now is a human pal to have space adventures with and my life will become so much better than it is now that I'll be grateful to you for the rest of my life. Not that I'm not grateful to be here, because if it weren't for MaxFund, I could be completely out of a home since my person passed away. That was rough because no one found us for a few days and I didn't know if that was how it was going to be forever (can you imagine?) or not. There were no other family members to go to so I was brought here.

At first I didn't eat or drink anything but now my appetite is healthy. I've spent some time in free roaming rooms where I thought life was okay until I heard a couple of fights almost break out between other cats. People don't like this about me, but when I hear other cats fighting, I experience misdirected aggression and want to fight something too. That's why I'm in a kennel now. That's also why volunteers and staff here think I would do best in a home with at most one other animal and no children. Even if you wanted me as your only cat, that would be fantastic!

Anyway, now that the trauma is in the past, I'm super eager to find a new human companion who will share his home with me. I can cuddle, play, roughhouse, hang out and chill—whatever you want to do. I can be taught the rules and I do abide by them because I'm a good boy and I want to please you. I like it when volunteers here please me, too, when they give me treats, brush my head and shoulders and let me wander around the room to check things out and stretch my legs. I love treats (and chewing on the bags they come in), so for treats I might even learn a new trick (or at least I could be taught to chew on a toy instead of plastic bags)! Sometimes I like the company of other cats–not all other cats, mostly gentle, reserved, quiet or demure ones who aren't overly assertive—and I don't know yet whether I like dogs. I would even love to be your foster cat—all my medical expenses would be paid for—while we wait for my Han Solo to find me and to take me home for the next ten or fifteen years. Most of all, I look forward with immense hope to going home with you and sharing adventures. How 'bout it, are ya in?
