Adopted June 2 nd , returned 2 weeks later because she “wasn’t a lap cat”. She is a friendly cat, but not demanding of attention.
The animal world lost a true friend and an advocate and Cole Winnefeld's family is paying tribute to their son by covering the adoption fee for many of FACE's long-term feline residents.
In 2009 Cole was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, and he fought through multiple rounds of treatment and therapies for over six years. He never achieved remission. Cole loved animals, especially cats and this idea came from Cole himself.
Earlier this year Cole learned of an abused cat in need of a good home that was in FACE's care (Jarbeller). He decided he had to step in and do something because he feared that she would be overlooked because of her abused past. He and his family decided they would pay her adoption fee to ensure she would be adopted into a good home. Cole and his Mom drove to FACE and paid the fee. Cole was sneaky..once the adoption fee was paid Cole asked to bring the cat home to keep. (He had even surprised his Mom by putting the cat carrier in the trunk before they left the house that day.) Needless to say, she is now a part of the Winnefeld family.
We've lost Cole, but his big heart and love for animals will live on.
Thanks for your interest in adopting a cat from FACE! Adult cats (over 1 year of age) are $25 to adopt.
