My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey folks! How's it going? My name is Luke. I am a 3 1/2-year-old neutered male Brittany Spaniel mix. I weigh approximately 30 pounds.

I'm as happy as they come with a true zest for life! You'll never find me in a sour mood. I've always got a smile on my face and a wagging tail. Not even three separate stays in a local high-kill shelter could turn me bitter towards the world. Yep, I said three!

I was just 4 months old the first time I found myself at the shelter. I was brought in as a stray by someone who found me wandering the streets of South Central LA. I'm not sure which is worse - the streets or the pound. But, like I mentioned before, I remained my happy-go-lucky self through it all. I was only there for five days anyway, so I guess things could have been worse.

I lived with my new family for just five short months. It's suspected that somehow I got away from my home and for the second time I found myself trolling the streets. It's unclear how long I was on my own for. I lost track of time! I guess that happens when you're just trying to survive.

Once again, I found myself at the pound. When I got there, I was completely disgusting. My coat was filthy and I desperately needed a bath. I don't remember exactly how I got so dirty, but it was December so maybe it was due to the rain.

From my shelter records it appears that my family may have been contacted and they came that same day to get me. I didn't even spend a single night there that time around. Yay for me!!

Things seemed like they were going well for a long time after that. I spent about 2 1/2 years with my family. I thought they loved me and wanted to spend the rest of their lives with me. I realize now that I was wrong!

One day my family loaded me into the car and brought back to that same shelter I had been to before. They dumped me there and not once did they shed a tear as they were handing me over. I'm pretty certain they never thought twice about what they had done.

I've since been rescued by CageFree Canine Rescue. They've promised me that I will never, ever end up in a shelter again!

I'm looking for an active family that is willing to make me a true part of their lives. A family that will take me on adventures and spend lots of time snuggling with me. I'm a very sweet guy and would love to shower you with doggy kisses all day long. You'll notice from my video that I am a very affectionate pup!

I love people! I also like dogs, too, so if you already have a dog at home, I would love to meet him/her. Making new friends is my specialty!

If you think that I would make a great companion for you, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to schedule a time to come out and meet me. I'll be waiting patiently.
