My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ELLIE and 3 other Jack Russells belonged to a woman who used them for breeding. The woman died and no one came for months to take care of the dogs. Her son made it clear he did not want the dogs. Finally Animal Control was called and the dogs were picked up and taken to the shelter. We were called to come and get them after they had been in a rural kill shelter for almost 3 months. Ellie is shy and afraid, but will come around after she gets to know you. She is spayed, microchipped, all shots and heartworm NEGATIVE! Ellie is about 6-7 yrs old. Her life has not been great up until now, but we can change all that. Please give her a chance to have a loving home. Adoption fee is $150. This helps us pay for the vet costs. YOU MUST COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION FIRST TO BE CONSIDERED TO ADOPT. Go to www.AlmostHomeFlorida.com to fill out an online application.
This dog will only be adopted to someone with a securely fenced yard. Underground fencing is NOT safe for a Jack Russell. It is required that the household have no small children (under 6) as terriers do NOT make good pets for households with very young children, and no small animals (cats, birds, ferrets, hamsters, etc.) as terriers were bred to hunt and can kill small animals. Jack Russell terriers are not suited to apartment or condo life, and it would be unwise to expect them to be anything other than what they were bred to be. The hunting instincts and prey drive cannot be trained out of these terriers and they will stay active in this way all their lives, even up to 15 to 16 years old and older.
