Found laying in the middle of the road after being hit by a vehicle and left to die only weeks old this sweet girl was lucky to have someone save her from certain death. Brought to rescue by a fellow neighbor at our previous location in August 2015 this poor girl needed immediate and urgent evaluation. Thankfully she was diagnosed with minor cuts & scrapes, fractured front leg and hip displacement. Our vet easily popped her hip into place and splinted her leg while we cared for her scrapes back at the rescue. Being only a few weeks old she was lucky to have survived such an incident. Once she realized her surroundings she was afraid, fearful and stand offish with us for several weeks. Finally realizing we were there to help her and not harm her she turned into the sweetest and most loving purr bug we have ever had to date.
Naming her "Pepper" was easy since the markings and coloring of her fur reminded us of pepper and salt but we decided on only one name instead of two. Being such a sweet girl she is definitely not shy or afraid of anything. She is very brave and courageous but not very gracious as most cats are instead she is rather clumsy. Pepper has used several of her 9 lives from what we tell everyone with all of the incidents she has faced. Since being rescued after her hit & run incident as a young kitten Pepper has managed to re-fracture her leg in Dec 2015 and most recently had her 3rd and most serious incident of all. Feb 2016 we noticed Pepper not feeling well which we took her into the vet for routine check up that turned into emergency surgery for Pyrometra and Spay. The vet didn't believe she would make it through but she did and had a roller coaster battle for her life over the next 2-3 weeks which required heavy narcotic medications, antibiotics, IV fluids and much more. Thankfully despite all odds Pepper has made it through just fine even after healing and developing mammary gland abscesses. To meet Pepper and her now "Princess" like spoiled rotten attitude is to absolutely fall head over heels in love with her.
