Lucie's Story...
Hi there! My name is Lucy. My mom was a feral cat and she had a difficult time taking care of my sister and me. We were rescued by Henrico Humane Society so we could live and grow in a safe, comfortable foster home where there’s always good food and soft beds.

A little bit about me: I love to play with toys. Any kind of toy will do! I roll around on the floor with the feather toys and absolutely love the balls that make noise! I love playing with my sisters, but what I truly enjoy is playing in a large room, running from one side to another. My foster mom calls these laps. Whatever its called, it is extremely fun.
Playing isn’t all that interests me, though. I love to be carried around in my foster mom’s arms. I can tell that she cares for me and wants to protect me.

If you think you could love me and give me a special, loving home please fill out an application and I could be yours!

If you’d like to meet me, please email to setup a visit. Don't forget to tell them you want to meet Lucy!

If you’re not sure which cat you’re interested in or are just beginning to search for a companion, our adoption coordinators can help! Just fill out a short questionnaire at: that will help us match you with our wonderful cats then visit us at our Adoption Stand at West Broad Petco (next to Trader Joe's) every Saturday from 11:00 to 3:00.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucie, a Richmond Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
