This miracle baby is Link. He came to GPRO as just a puppy, DOB approximately March 2015, after suffering unbelievable injuries and neglect, including a lower back injury causing him partial paralysis, his left rear leg was broken in two places, and right rear leg was mangled beyond repair. There was no option but to amputate the right leg, and his left rear leg was successfully surgically repaired. Link then started the long road to recovery and has completed physical therapy from June to Nov. He has gained strength and control in his lower back and rear leg, and has gained significant control of his bowels and bladder, and he can use his front legs to pull himself around quite well but he can't stand and balance without assistance from either his wheelchair or assistance using a rear harness. Please watch his video to see how he maneuvers on his own as well as with his harness and wheelchair.

Through it all Link has been the happiest guy; he is social and a happy-go-lucky pup! He enjoys his dogs friends of all sizes and loves to play, he adores kids, he never meets a stranger, and is just a total lovebug! He has been looking for his fur-ever family for months; yes he requires a lot of extra work, but he's worth it!

Link’s fur-ever home will need to be:
-handicap friendly living space, ie no to few stairs & runners/rugs on slick flooring surface in his living area and path outdoors.
-able to dedicate the time needed for his day to day care & assistance
-a family schedule that he would not be left unattended for long periods on a routine basis
-continue home therapy exercises, our therapy vet is happy to discuss & demo the exercises that benefit Link
-physically able to support him full grown standing & walking with his rear harness. Also physically helping him in & out of his wheelchair
-Link does require some extra supplies & equip; nothing really expensive except for the wheelchair. We will send with him to his fur-ever home with his current therapy exercise equip, rear end support harnesses, and his brand new wheelchair made just for him that will fit him for quite some time (adjusts in height and width two additional sizes). Adopter could trade in his wheelchair or sell it when Link requires a larger one to offset the cost.

Link is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and utd on his monthly prevention meds. To apply to adopt Link please complete the adoption application from either the link or visit Out of state adopters are welcome, however you will need to come to Oklahoma to finalize the adoption.

Oklahoma dogs are not available to adopters who live in an apartment.

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
