My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hattie is a special young lady, not to mention a beauty! She has been in her foster home since mid-June and LOVES being around other dogs, is fine with cats, and has mastered leash walking. Hattie is between 7 months old and weighs approximately 25 pounds. She is a playful love-bug, appreciates your attention, and will let you know that she misses you if she cannot share your space. Hattie definitely needs a canine brother or sister to give her confidence and help her out with new situations. She has some fear issues (mostly with men) and will need a patient family to work with her. She is a smart girl and has mastered sit and “leave it”. She also enjoys a game of fetch. She is very playful but not high energy. Hattie consistently does her business when brought outside on a schedule but not 100% trained. Fortunately, her foster mom has been home with her since her arrival so frequent outdoor visits have not been a problem. At night, she sleeps with her foster mom and when left alone, she has space to lounge and play with the other dogs. She does NOT do well in a crate or kennel. She’s a fighter and a survivor! I love this girl and you will too! Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed and size when grown.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday September 5, 2015, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
