My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

VALENTINE SPECIALI!!! ALL BLACK/BLACK AND WHITE CATS ARE $50 UNTIL FEB. 14TH. SHOW THEM SOME LOVE! The following is an update from Abby's foster family:: "This little lady has come a long way! She arrived at our shelter a very sick kitty with a bad wound on her left rear side that she wouldn't stop bothering due to the stress of being in the shelter. Poor Abby was in a cone and on medication for weeks, but slowly and surely she began to heal. Even with constantly being in the cone and being unwell, this sweet girl was soooo patient with all of her treatment and was grateful for gentle brushing and chin scratches under her cone. When her wound was almost closed, a foster opened up their home to see if Abby's anxiety would subside and she would stop licking at her wound if she left the shelter. And within a week of being in a home environment, voilà! The cone came off because she didn't need it, her wound healed completely, and Abby cat settled in to stay. She tolerates the other two male cats and large male dog in the household, but likes to have her own space. Miss Abby is a big fan of the man of the house, and follows him from room to room. Although she is not a lap cat, she likes to be nearby people and greets you at the door when you walk in. She's not a big fan of being picked up, but we are slowly showing her that "picked up" means cuddles and attention (which she likes when she has feet on terra firma) and she's coming along well. She loves to chase her ball-shaped cat toy, and if she finds any small BBs (my husband spilled a bottle and she found some under the couch) she will entertain herself for hours. She also will claim a corner of the couch or the bed if you are chilling out with a book or watching TV. Because of all that she's been through, Abby isn't very good with change. She will tolerate a visit to the vet or a new person in the house, but it takes a few days for her to go back to her normal self. She loves soft kitty food and that generally perks her up in no time. She does still have her claws but has been very polite about restricting her claw-sharpening to the scratching post and the carpet (doesn't bother our furniture one bit.). She is a very quiet kitty; she has the sweetest whispery meow. Even her purr is louder! She loves to be brushed and when in a really good brushing session she'll turn over and let you get in some belly rubs. This pretty girl would love to make a new friend - come by and visit if you are looking for a furbaby!"
