My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Buddy, I am a 3 year old male neutered English Coonhound mix. I am 70lbs of pure love and affection. I like to spend most of my day lounging outside in the grass or inside on a dog bed chewing on toys. I share my foster home with three other dogs and I love to play and cuddle with all of them, even the sassy dominant female! I know sit and am learning how to lay down on command. I also know to sit and wait until my foster mom or dad say its ok for me to eat my food. I just finished treatment for heartworm disease. I am completely potty trained as well as crate trained. I walk very well on a leash and love taking walks. I am eager to learn and to please and would excel in a home with other dogs to keep me company, or if someone was home frequently. My foster home also has some crazy little creatures called chinchillas that while I am interested in watching what they do I have never shown any prey drive toward them.

When I first came into the rescue I was emaciated, muscle wasted, had hot spots, and was heartworm positive. I had been an outdoor only dog locked in an outdoor kennel. Due to boredom I learned to escape that kennel and would wander seeking attention that I did not get at home from my previous owners. That is how I came into rescue. I have gained 10lbs since coming into my foster parents home and my skin has cleared up. I can easily clear a 4ft fence so I need to either have a 6ft fence at minimum or have someone to either walk me or watch me when I am on a tether in the yard. At my foster home they use a tether for my small potty trips or just to let me lounge in the yard and I do great on it as I can easily jump their fence. Most of the time I just want to be out in the sun catching some rays.
