My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Milo is the dog you want to have around! Milo, at just about 7 - 8 years old (such a perfect age..old enough to be beyond babyish behavior and young enough to have many, many active years left) and 12 lbs, is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving guy around. Milo enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Milo generally loves his people more than anything..he's a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from his time spent with kind, dog-loving adults. Milo doesn't dislike young children...but has lived with a 5, 3 and 1 year old.. and is now more comfortable and secure around adults in his home.

This very adorable guy exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Milo has been very fortunate that he's never experienced life at a shelter. He's only known pure love from his very kind adult family and has developed into a dog that is very sweet and devoted to adults...they're so predictable. The baby of Milo's current household is now crawling and grabbing. This is very scary for Milo and therefore the tough decision has been made to rehome this beautiful guy.

Milo's Boulder family had the following to say about this sweet pup:

Milo is a 7 - 8 year old, 15-pound Yorkie/Maltese. He's neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all of his shots, etc. Vet records can be provided for all of Milo's vetting.

Milo is such a little sweetheart. As he's gotten older, his temperament has mellowed out significantly. He spends part of his time during the day cuddling and sleeping. He'll bark when something startles him, and when other dogs pass by our house, but otherwise he's not yappy at all. Milo is crate trained and likes the coziness of his little bed, but also loves sleeping at the foot of our bed at night.

Milo gets really excited and playful when we come home or when somebody comes over - he is such a lover. He's good with kids, but doesn't want to share his attention with them in a home. I think an older couple, or a family with older kids would be a great fit for Milo.He likes other small dogs, but can get nervous around larger dogs. He doesn't like cats at all. Milo's definitely a home-body and doesn't like to stray too far away from home on his walks. He sticks really close by us and immediately comes when called.

Milo gets nervous when we wander too far from home or when something is unfamiliar. He's never been kenneled for this same reason. On walks, he occasionally barks at other dogs, and can even get a bit fearful with bigger dogs - trying to defend himself I imagine. As long as Milo is on a leash and kept away from big dogs (not letting them say hello), this has never been an issue.

Milo's bond to his people leads us to believe that he would be happiest in an active retiree's home. He would blossom with the time and attention that this type of family would offer. Milo is also very portable and therefore able to accompany his family just about anywhere...be it to a dog-loving friend's house, riding shotgun in the car or hiking on a trail...Milo is ready and willing.

Milo is a welcome guest in virtually every situation...when comfortable, his joy starts with his little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on his cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, he's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Milo is all over it. Off he'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly, gentle dogs. Milo has an amazing attitude and we feel that he will be the cuddliest and sweetest guy and his personality will truly emerge once he's free of the tail-pulling and poking of a young baby.

Milo would be so happy in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A beginning positive reinforcement obedience group class will create additional family bonding as well as promoting great behavior and confidence.

Milo is being fostered in Boulder. If interested in this sweet, loving and devoted adult best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
