My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Let me introduce you to this fun loving boy Ryder. He is a 9 month old neutered male Rottweiler/Husky mix with a HUGE heart! He weighs 45pounds, is a medium size dog. He has the Rottweiler markings on his face and the body and energy of a Husky and a beautiful white patch under his neck. He has the loyalty attachment (stick by your side or follow your every move) of a Rottweiler and has the high energy (wanting to run) of a Husky. He has a wonderful disposition and will be a very loyal dog. Ryder is an enormous suck and loves being by your side. He would bring absolute joy to any household as he has a cheerful approach to life.

Ryder was a stray at a rural animal control facility and was not claimed by his owner. How his previous owner didn't come for him is beyond comprehension. He deserves a family who is as devoted to him as he will be to them. He needs to belong to a home where he will receive attention and not be allowed to roam free and get lost, and where he can be confident in the fact that he is home forever. Ryder is SUPER affectionate. You need to be ok with dog kisses, he loves his head, neck and chest being rubbed.

Ryder is a very active dog so would do best with a young active owners that have a life-style that could have him out and about on trails, runs, and just exploring because he loves to be busy and is eager to see and do everything. An apartment would not be a good fit for Ryder, a house with a yard would be best and if fenced would be even bet-ter. Ryder loves his walks/runs. He loves to run and jump, he is quick and has a bounce to him so would also be great for any agility sports or a running/bike companion. He would just love the bush trails as well and I’m sure with more training he would be able to join the off leash parks and trails. Ryder loves car rides. Ryder will be a great new member to your lives so if you have the time and commitment he would love to be by your side.

Ryder is totally house trained. He will let you know if he needs to go out, surprisingly for his age he has a very strong bladder. He is also crate trained and sleeps the whole night, not even an early riser. He stays in his crate as well when no one is home, which I'm sure after the puppy, mischief stage he would be fine out during your time away.

He has been socialized with other dogs and does great, no aggression shown just wants to run and play. We would suggest he go to a home that if there is another dog it be young and playful like him. He tends to provide too much energy for the older dogs. He is being fostered with our 8 year old Labrador and seems can sometimes bother the older dog with his persistence to play. If you do have another young dog a fenced yard would be a must as they will need to run and play. Should he be the only dog in the home then he will need a few good dog buddies to play with regularly to keep his dog socialization up. He should not go to a home with cats, he is not quite sure of the smaller animals and gets a little too excited when he sees them and wants to chase.

Ryder is good with our two teenage boys. He can play rough but ONLY when he doesn’t get enough exercise. It is important that his new family understand his energy needs and walk him, play with him, and/or run him daily. He is learning that when playtime is done, he needs to stop and this is where the stubbornness of the Husky comes in. He will not want to stop and tell you this by barking as well as jumping up. This can be corrected with continued training. We are looking for a home for him that if there are children they be over 12 years of age. Ryder is a goofy pup and would play too rough for younger children right now. With continued training and maturity he will settle in to be a great dog.

Ryder is a very good boy when it comes to his daily routines and will need continued training for his manners. He does know the basic commands like, sit, stay, shake a paw and we are working on the commands, no, enough (barking), leave it, and come. He is smart and just eager to please and has a mind that is going 24/7 so will love training classes and the continuous learning at home. He loves his treats so treat training works amazing well and of course the “good boy” praise. I’m sure Ryder will be top of this class and will make you such a proud owner. With your dedication and love he will be an amazing, beautiful boy and adopting him will bring joy, unconditional love and a best friend forever.

He is updated on all his shots, vaccinations and has been neutered. He is a very healthy dog.

Ryder is a top student in our eyes and we know that if you adopt him, he will love you endlessly and try to impress you every day. If you are active and outdoorsy and are looking for a vibrant dog to accompany you on walks, hikes, camping, running, biking, car rides….pretty much anything, then Ryder is the dog for you! Adopt this fellow, it'll be the best decision you ever make.

All Pound Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, de-wormed (if required), and micro-chipped prior to adoption. The adoption donation of $400 is applied to assist in the costs of veterinary care and the overall care of the dog.
