Liddia's Story...
Liddia (we call her Liddy) is a beautiful black lab weighing about 65 lbs. in the age range of 8+ years. She came to the McCracken County KY shelter as a stray with a large tumor/bag hanging from her abdomen. She was not spayed and we believe she may have been used to breed as she appears to have had litters of pups. The mammary gland tumor was removed in June 2015 and she was spayed at the same time. The malignant cells in the removed tumor were categorized as Level 1 (low grade) according to lab report.. There appeared to be no invasion into lymph nodes or blood vessels. X-rays were also done as Liddy was healing which showed no cancer in lungs or chest. Right now Liddy is considering herself a “cancer survivor” but she will need to be monitored for any reappearance of tumors. She could be the poster dog as to why it is important to have dogs spayed/neutered to help prevent the occurrence of cancer as dogs age. Liddy is currently in foster care where she has been allowed to heal. She is now looking for a permanent home where she can enjoy her active golden years. Liddy is house trained and walks well on a leash during her daily walks. Please contact her foster mom at 270-619-0741 for any additional information. All vet records will be furnished to Liddy’s adopter

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Liddia, a Paducah Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Paducah, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Paducah.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Paducah already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Paducah breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Paducah paves the way for another one to be saved.
