My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Anna. Anna is a 2-year-old female black and white smooth coated female mix. This timid gal was a stray and came from a shelter in Central CA. Her owner could not afford her bail fees so she became available for adoption. While initially evaluating her, she just trembled and you could tell she was unsure and timid. She did eventually start to settle a bit with my touch, but she remained timid and cautious. Although I could see her potential, she was slated for euthanization because she was scared. Once bailed, Anna was immediately taken to a groomer. This poor dog was skin and bones and we are working on her diet to fatten her up. From the day she has come to foster care. Anna has put on the weight she had lost, her coat is starting to get shiny and you can see a smile on her face.

Anna is slowly coming out of her shell and she responds to my commands well. While I’m at home, Anna follows me everywhere I go and sits by my side. Anna is house broken and walks to the back door when its time for her to go out. She waits patiently when its time for her to eat and she does not resource guard anything.

Anna continues to blossom at her foster home. Every day she goes to the dog park and meets new dogs. She walks up to the other people there so she can be petted. She is still learning how to play with the others and once in a while you see her running with the pack. But when she is home, Anna does play with her foster siblings (another Border Collie and a chihuahua mix). Slowly she will open up and become a wonderful dog. Her energy level can be classified as low key. She definitely has an “off” switch. Once she comes home she hangs out under the tables and sleeps on the couch. She now walks nicely on a leash, but could use some help with basic commands, as of now she only knows sit but I am starting to work with her on the basic commands. She has no issues with other dogs.

Since she is so shy, a home without children is recommended. She would prefer a quieter environment. Anna’s confidence will continue to grow as long as you are patient and use a soft command. An obedience class would really boost her confidence and solidify the bond with her new owner. Anna has a nice temperament, and exhibits nice BC traits.
