Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Newton and his siblings Olivia and Johnny came to us from Missouri, where they found were running loose. Newton, the biggest of the 3, was almost left behind. But when Adopt A Pet heard that he could end up as coyote bait, literally, they took him too. Newton's foster mom is so glad they did --she thinks Newton is the best of the bunch! Here's what she tells us:
"Newton is a calm, mellow, low energy, very easy-going 5 month old puppy who loves people. He is always by my side, not in a clingy or demanding way, just quietly waiting for attention or rolling over for a belly rub. Although he is part hound, he is not a barker; although he weighs 25 pounds he thinks he's a lap dog. He could be a perfect fit for a family looking for a puppy to grow up with their kids. Newton is not mouthy, he is extremely gentle, and submissive towards other dogs. He has already learned to sit and knows how to walk on a leash. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is paper-trained and on his way to being house-trained. During the day he loves to lounge on his doggy bed. His pictures and my description do not do him justice—come see for yourself what a sweetheart he is!”
Newton has the markings of a hound and the sweet personality of a lab, and might be a lab/hound mix. But that is a guess, so only those willing to take pot-luck as far as actual breed should apply! Newton will need a family where someone is home part or all of the day to keep him on a regular schedule and take him to puppy obedience school. Invest some time, love, and training, and this pup will surely be “Hopelessly Devoted To You” when full grown!
Newton's adoption fee of $325 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo), bordetella, and rabies vaccinations, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative and neuter.
