My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space...then they can become a bit shy as if the world is a tentative place. With love and assurance..they quickly come back overflowing with puppy love and opportunity. We're so grateful for the efforts of the great Houston rescuers in saving Mindy and bringing back her puppy joy...they could see that her temperament was so loving that they couldn't allow her to be euthanized.

Mindy was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...she passed both with flying colors. The vet's assessment was that Mindy has a great/kind temperament that will grow brighter each day as she receives love, hugs and of course treats. Mindy was then brought to a great Texas foster home to begin her education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that Mindy, at only 16 weeks old, is so cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom to watch her blossom. Her foster had the following to say about this wonderful puppy:
--I picked Mindy up to foster and promptly fell in love. She will win your heart in a second.
I have never met a dog with so much love for humans. She just wants to be on your lap while hugging and kissing you. She is very calm, even with my 4 and 1 year old boys running around screaming and singing... and through strong thunder. I gave her a bath and she was quiet as a mouse. She cried during the night for a bit but we put a radio close by and she fell fast asleep I'm guessing she just felt lonely.

In general, she gets along great with kids, babies, men and women but she has chosen me as her absolute favorite. She lets us be close by while eating (no food aggression at all), has no problem going in her crate (actually likes it) and is doing great using her puppy pads all the time (haven't taken her outside because of the weather).
I really hope she finds a loving family! Mindy deserves it and will make her family so happy!

Mindy is like a blank slate...open and curious about the possibilities of the world. If she continues her regimen of time with loving humans and puppy kindergarten classes followed by Obedience I, Mindy will become a well-adjusted and extremely pleasant adult companion.

Mindy is a gorgeous puppy with a Benji-like coat that speaks of youth and good health. Her demeanor is just who she is...she appears to be just a bit more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you are kind to Mindy, she is your best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If she is treated respectfully (treats and belly rubs always help) with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted adult dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Mindy.

Mindy currently weighs 7.2 lbs (the vets anticipate her to weigh approximately 14 lbs when full-grown.) She's the perfect size to be very portable and low-maintenance enough to take along on fun adventures. We feel it's very important that Mindy is provided with exercise and mental stimulation to develop into a well-adjusted companion. She will be a great size to enjoy hiking and adventures in the Colorado mountains..a perfect best friend! We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy puppy in their activities.

Mindy appears to a be a non-shedding...or very light shedding puppy (she is thought to be a mix of 2 non-shedding breeds)...although it's difficult to tell for certain since she still has her baby coat. Mindy will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her hair silky-soft and matt-free.

We've requested that Mindy be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Mindy's spay and microchip is our Denver vet is used.

Sweet Mindy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 8/28/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet, endearing and very fun puppy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
