My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Brandy. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Brandy's foster mom knows it's morning when Brandy's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a huge kiss of love.

This curious and really, really smart 24 - 35 month old, 24 lb mix (such a great medium size..perfect for hiking and just right to take everywhere a sweet pup is welcome) is a truly great companion. There aren't many visible signs that Brandy was in a very scary high-kill shelter. She's sometimes shy and can hold back in certain situations..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Brandy bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer.

We picture Brandy as a best friend to active retirees or a family with older and active kids. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Brandy would be one of the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Brandy is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's never pushy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or more challenging hikes to socialize with others..and mental stimulation that comes from her time with her humans is important to this sweet girl to keep her happy and well-behaved. it's not that she requires extensive amounts of anything, just enough to keep her healthy and stimulated.

Brandy would also enjoy time with very gentle and a bit older, dog-loving kids. She's such an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Brandy derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life.

It also appears (after some research on our part) that Schnauzer/Terrier mixes are wonderful. Schnauzers tend to be so cute and the most devoted of companions...combined with the energy and inquisitive nature of the Terrier, you end up with a humorous and loyal family member.

Brandy appears to be a non-shedder...although we'll know for sure once her sad shelter hair grows out and we see the beauty of her scruffy Terrier coat after the benefit of healthy food and clean conditions. Brandy will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning cinnamon coat (that seems to have a mind of its own) healthy and matt-free.

Brandy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 8/28/15. If interested in this sweet and very endearing companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
