My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER UPDATE: Ardy is a wonderful dog. He is a love bug and would let you pet him all day if you wanted to. He appears to be housebroken, as we've only had one accident so far, which was mostly my fault for not taking him out in time. He knows some commands like sit and down, and he knows stay for the most part. Ardy is a low to medium energy dog. He wants to run and get excited, but unfortunately he cannot do that until his heartworm treatment is done, so for now we take short walks around the neighborhood, and he enjoys those. Ardy wants to be wherever you are and will follow you around the house. He's a little black shadow! In his spare time, Ardy enjoys chewing on bully sticks and rawhides. He will occasionally chase a tennis ball, but he still hasn't really gotten the hang of fetch or other toys. I think he just needs to learn how to be a dog again. Car rides are very fun things, and he loves to look out the window or put his head on the center console for you to rub during the ride.
I also think that Ardy may have been abandoned, because although he is crate trained and does not make a mess in his crate, he has a little bit of anxiety when you are leaving, so we are working on teaching him that the crate is a good thing and we will always come back for him.

*Ardy is unfortunately HW positive and will undergo treatment soon. If you'd like to donate to his care, please visit labradorfriends.com/donate/.*

Meet ARDY!! This handsome 4-5 year old black lab is looking for his forever home. He came in as a stray to the shelter but was never reclaimed. Ardy is a friendly boy who loves to be petted. He has such a handsome, soft coat. Ardy is a little chunky and could stand to lose a few pounds, but he is on the smaller side at around 55 pounds. He enjoys going on walks and rode well in the car. Ardy appears to be a mostly low energy dog with a great temperament. Although he wasn't really interested in treats or the food at the shelter, he did not mind me sticking my hand in his mouth or touching all over his body at all. Ardy knows how to sit on command but probably needs a little obedience refresher course. Overall, Ardy is a fantastic dog who just needs a second chance to find his forever home. Keep checking back for updates as we get him into a foster home and learn more about his personality!
