My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reeses is a stunning 4 year old, Chihuahua/Basenji mix. She weighs about 16 lbs. Poor Reeses has had no luck at all. She was first dumped at the shelter when her family had a baby; then she got adopted again and was returned for allergies! Third time's a charm, right? Not for this baby. She got returned again because the kids were too rough with her. Her next home really needs to be a forever home.

She is shy at first (wouldn't you be??) but she adjusts very well and is a very loving, cuddly dog. She is happy and playful and very affectionate. Reeses is housetrained and listens well to commands. She would do best in a home with a secure fenced yard as she already ran away once. Once she settled in and got to know her new foster mom, she didn't try to "door dash" any more. She can be bathroom-shy when in a new or heavily populated environment but she is housetrained. She plays well with other dogs and is even good with big active dogs and cats. She also enjoys playing by herself with her toys. She has no separation anxiety. Reeses knows COME and SIT and responds very well to commands. She is completely crate trained and will sit quietly in it for as long as she is directed.

She is a very sweet girl who has had more than her share of hardship and disappointment and we are all rooting for her to finally find a home and a family who will keep her forever. We recommend no young kids for Reeses at this time and we feel she needs an experienced owner to help her gain in confidence and trust.
