My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you want a loving, obedient doberman-mix who LOVES to play ball and will be the best guard dog ever?

Then you need to meet Buddy…a 3.5 year old male, 55 pound black and tan mix whose medium size does not dissuade Buddy from being the greatest lap dog (Buddy loves to snuggle on the couch).

We rescued Buddy 3 years ago when he was a tiny pup and he has been an amazing part of our family. Sadly due to financial constraints and a new baby on the way, we are unable to provide the proper care and lifestyle that Buddy deserves.

Buddy has had extensive training (over $5,000 worth) and knows how to SIT, LAY DOWN, STAY, GO NIGHT NIGHT (he will go to his bedding). He knows how to use a doggy door and can wait to go outside (buddy had one accident in 3 years when he was a baby). Walking with Buddy is very easy and he will sit once you stop walking (he will also stop at crosswalks while you look both ways before crossing the street). Buddy will not beg for food at the table and will not sit on a couch or bed unless told to.

Buddy socializes well with other dogs and has been going to doggy day care for 3 years most week days. His vaccines are all up to date and his last check up gave him glowing reviews (his teeth are very clean!).

Buddy’s new home should definitely have a lot of outdoor space as Buddy LOVES to run around and play. Buddy loves to play BALL…if you say the word BALL his head will jump up with excitement and he will run around looking for the nearest ball to play with.

Buddy likes to be protective and we do not suggest having him in an apartment or other small living area. Buddy has trust issues with strangers so it is not recommended to adopt Buddy if you plan on having people to your house everyday, but if you are looking for a wonderful companion dog who will love and care for you and your family, then this is the dog for you.

If you're interested in adopting this pet please fill out our matchmaking questionnaire (www.rescuefromthehart.org). We are volunteer based and will do our best to get back to you within 72 hours. Please do not call as our phone is intended for emergencies only. If we feel that one of our dogs is a good match we will set up a private meet and greet We do not have a physical location where you can come and meet all the dogs at once, so meet and greets may take a little time to coordinate. Our requested adoption donation is $300 and all adopters are required to fill out an adoption agreement.
