Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We got a desperate email from Kansas about sweet Jett...the shelter was desperate to find a home for this unusually beautiful (with the most expressive eyes that speak of great wisdom) and very loving Havanese/Poodle mix (or so the shelter vets thought - we're not sure other than he's SO cute!). Jett was recognized for his temperament and very sweet personality (and his funny and engaging ways always attracts admirers everywhere he goes).
As adorable as Jett is on the outside, it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this 18 - 24 month old and 22 lb pup - such a perfect size to be small enough to cuddle up on the couch with his favorite people and large enough to use his young energy on a great hike in the Colorado mountains.
As our rescuer drove away from the dreary rural shelter, Jett was so relieved that he climbed into her lap, breathed a huge sigh of relief and fell fast asleep. He slept all the way to the vet's office for his temperament testing (he passed with flying colors) and got a perfect on his vetting assessment. So...off he went to his foster home to be reminded of respectful house skills, beginning of leash training and socialization time out in the world. Jett is ready and so excited for his transport to Denver and a brand new life..it's almost like he can tell a wonderful new change is in store for him.
Since Jett has gotten an A+ for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...he's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision Jett in a home either with older, dog-loving children who are very gentle or in a home with active retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and engaging guy.
Jett has shown similar traits of those of the herding breeds. First and foremost, Jett is really smart..as are herding dogs! He tends to want to herd people running or skateboarding by nipping at their heels. With exercise. leadership and positive reinforcement training, Jett can be shown that this isn't acceptable and can successfully be taught to modify his behavior.
We would never want Jett in a situation where he's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for him to be taken along on hikes, adventures and even visits with dog-loving friends. He's almost impossible not to fall in love with...his manner speaks of puppy-softness and fun. Jett also travels like a champ - he loves nothing more than coming along on errands, hikes and any adventure that keeps him together with those he loves. He would be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways. Jett is so pleasant with everyone that he attracts admirers everywhere he goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Jett back to his family every time...he's a one-family guy!
Jett is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement for a cotton-soft and healthy coat) along with periodic grooming to keep his coat beautiful and matt-free.
