Facts about Copper

  • Breed: Missouri Foxtrotter Mix
  • Color: Chestnut/Sorrel
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large
  • Sex: Female
Copper, who is 18 years old, is still at SHARE following the Ernest Rose case from 2007. Almost 70 horses were found to be living in terrible conditions without proper care. Various horse rescues collaborated to save the horses, and SHARE received 15 of them, including Copper. Several of the horses we took in have since been adopted! Copper would love to have her chance at a forever home as well.

Copper is PASTURE SOUND only due to hock issues and arthritis, and really only needs a good-sized pasture for her to get out and move and she is a happy horse. She would be a good COMPANION horse for a variety of other horse personalities, and is very docile and well-mannered toward people. This is an attractive mare with good manners who is easy to handle and care for. Please consider making her your pasture pet or companion horse. Her adoption fee is $300.

About Society for Hooved Animal's Rescue and Emergency

About Our Rescue Group...

About Us

Our mission is to maintain the integrity, well-being, and health of hooved animals through education first.

SHARE is a nonprofit humane society established in 2005 in the Champaign area. We have investigators that cover a large portion of Illinois.

At SHARE, our goal is to help equines trapped in situations of abuse and starvation. It is also our wish as well to educate horse owners on how to properly care for their horses.

The humane society offers to help educate owners on the proper daily care and maintenance; vetting and hoof care as well as nutrition and emergencies. The society also rescues severely neglected horses and provides rehabilitation services and placement through adoption.

This is not an easy task; many volunteers are needed in order to provide this care and support. There are many people who are not aware of hooved animals that are abused and neglected. SHARE would like to inform people about this

Adoption Requirements

1. You must live in Illinois or close neighboring state.
2. Must own the property where the horse will be kept.
3. Must provide a letter of recommendation from your veterinarian and one from your farrier if you are now a horse owner. If you do not have a farrier, a letter from another person will suffice.
