Roxy's Story...
Roxy is fostered at PawPaca Dog Daycare in Waupaca, WI. Please visit www.pawpaca.com and you can watch her play on the webcam!

Hello my name is Roxy. I am a 2 year old female Weimaraner. I have a colic on my neck, that is rather cute- it looks like a mini Mohawk!

When I first came into rescue, I was crated and I hated it! I did not do well in a crate. But now my foster mom puts me in a kennel run and I love it! Crating is not for me and I am a happier girl now that I am not crated. Unfortunately, if you leave me loose in your house when you are not home, I am likely to chew something important and get into food in the kitchen. For this reason, I have a heart by my name on the website- I am looking for a special family that can meet my exercise and social requirements, and also can keep me out of trouble when they are gone. Perhaps my new family will have a dog run I could stay in, a dog-safe room in their home, or could take me to work with them so I would not have to be left alone often. I am fostered at a great dog daycare facility- perhaps that would be a good option for my new family?

I am a really really funny girl- you will laugh alot when you meet me. I LOVE to meet new people and play, I will curl up in your lap. I like to sit on the couch like I am a person, and I love to climb- I will find a high spot in your house like the top of the couch or on top of the dining room table so I can see everything going on from there. Funny huh? I do like other dogs alot, I can be a dominant female so I could be an only dog, or could find the right k9 brother or sister to live with. Unfortunately, I do not like cats, and although I am friendly, I am a little complicated for a home with small children. In my foster home, I am learning to share with other dogs, good leash manners, and I am trying really hard to learn a recall. I will also need a home with a secure fenced yard as I have a tendency to try and escape.

If you are looking for a super sweet, smart, friendly Weim to join your family- it may be me! When I find the right family, we will understand each other and get along famously, I just know it! I have been waiting so long for my fur-ever home, please contact GLWR and come meet me! - Roxy

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Roxy, a Grand Haven Weimaraner dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Weimaraner for sale in Grand Haven, or seeking a Weimaraner dog from a breeder in Grand Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Weimaraner breeders who help with Weimaraner rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
