Missy's Story...
Have you ever seen such a beautiful cat as I? I am Missy, and people tell me that I'm just about the loveliest cat they have ever seen. I am a petite little girl with the most luxurious long coat -- perhaps I have some Maine Coon in my ancestry. I don't know much about my ancestry, though -- all I know is that i'm awfully young to be a homeless cat and ever so young to have experienced everything I have in my short life. You see, I'm all but a kitten myself, and I've already been a mom. But sadly, all of my kittens died soon after they were born. I tried so hard to be a good mom, but I think that fate did not plan for my kittens to be long for this world. I've now been spayed, and that's just fine -- there are so many needy cats and kittens already. I certainly don't want to be responsible for bringing more into the world! Now, don't be sad for me, despite the hard life I've had up until this point. I am one of the fortunate ones -- many cats that end up pregnant or with kittens in animal shelters don't ever get to leave. Me, I was brought to Friends of Homeless Animals for a new lease on life, and I'm taking every opportunity I can get. I've been enjoying being showered with affection and attention at my FOHA foster home. I get to play with toys -- I'm the type of cat who can entertain herself playing with my little toys pretty much all day. I get to relax and watch the day from a bright window instead of a metal cage. I get to enjoy snuggles and pets, and I show how much I enjoy them with little gentle head butts and the occasional kitty kiss to my favorite people on the chin.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Aldie Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Aldie, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Aldie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aldie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aldie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aldie paves the way for another one to be saved.
