Calamity Jane's Story...
My five sisters and my mom and I were found wandering in the “wilds” of Wisconsin: alone, scared and hungry. Some nice people managed to capture us (we didn't trust people at first) and bring us to Helping PAWS so we could find good homes. Since I have been here, I have come to realize that people are pretty great! I still don't like to be picked up, but I do enjoy playing with toys and snuggling up to the nice humans who take care of me. My sister, Cattle Cait, says that she is the bravest of us all, but I'm a pretty close second. I've adjusted to being an indoor kitty and I love to be petted and made a fuss over. If you would like to come to Helping PAWS and make a fuss over me, you'll see what I mean.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Calamity Jane, a Washburn Calico kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Calico for sale in Washburn, or seeking a Calico kitten from a breeder in Washburn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washburn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washburn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Calico breeders who help with Calico rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washburn paves the way for another one to be saved.
