My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leonard is a bright and happy dog. He is eager and willing to learn and would be a lot of fun to take to obedience training, agility classes, or scent work. He bonds quickly with the family and in particular with one person. Leonard loves going for car rides. He comes quickly when called and his happiest place is sitting in a lap, snuggling under covers and licking faces.

His foster family takes him everywhere off leash and he stays close by. On leash he may pull a little but, being that he is only 5 pounds, anyone can handle him. Leonard sleeps quietly in his crate all night, likes to chew only on chew bones, and is housebroken. The foster family he lives with has three young children and have taken him to soccer games and other public activities.

At times, Leonard can be a bit fearful if a young kid runs up to him and jumps on him. He is great with children who are old enough to understand he is a small dog requiring gentle handling. Leonard has a perfect amount of energy, he is eager and happy to run around the yard and can easily keep up with bigger, younger dogs, however if you're looking to spend a quiet afternoon on the couch, he's happy to take a nap in a sunbeam right next to you. Leonard is quick to please, intelligent, and everything you might want in a big dog, in a little dog package.

Leonard is being fostered in West Boylston.

The adoption fee is $300.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
