My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hannah is a 3 and 1/2 year old cutie, who suffered a shattered broken leg, which had to be amputated. Her small dog is not yet known, but she appears to do fine with cats.Since Hannah is quite shy, she will do better with a doggie companion to help her build her confidence. and live with no small children.

Hey everyone! It's me...Hannah. My temporary foster mom calls me Hannah Banana, so you should get me away from her as soon as possible. I had a little mishap with another greyhound and shattered the heck out of my upper leg. After a lot of discussion, we all decided it would be best to amputate the leg and let me move on. I was nervous but not that it's done, I feel SO much better. I'm still getting accustomed to balancing on three legs, but it's not THAT hard.

Ashley sent me a nice card encouraging me. She had her leg amputated a couple months ago and she already found a forever person! Ashley told me to look cute, but pitiful in my pictures so I'm working on that. Once my incision is healed and I'm more stable on my feet, I'll go on a "cat testing" adventure. I'll let you know how that goes. I don't know how fast I'm going to be so Barney the Cat should be safe even if I can't control my urge to squeak him.

FOSTER UPDATE:

Hannah is a great little dog. She is shy, but not spooky. She likes people, readily accepts pets, loves to sniff us and occasionally wags her tail when we walk in. Hannah's favorite bed is in our laundry room. She comes out when she needs to potty or when she hears squeaky toys. We have starting putting her in an x-pen in the den while we're working on the computer, hoping to expand her universe.

Hannah is not a fan of the outdoors. She willingly goes outside to potty, but that's it. If she hears any unusual noise, she heads back inside. Hannah doesn't interact with our dogs, and probably could live as an only dog.

Hannah gets around well on three legs. We have rubber-backed throw rugs along her path, so she doesn't slip on the tile. She does fine on tile unless something scares her. If she starts to scramble or to turn a corner too quickly, she is in danger of falling.

Hannah has had two episodes of inappropriate fibrinolysis, which causes uncontrolled internal bleeding. One incident required a blood transfusion. Hannah's forever family must have ready access to a compounding pharmacy to obtain amino caproic acid immediately if she has a bleeding episode. They also must have the ability and resources to address future episodes, if any, to include emergency care, inpatient veterinary treatments and transfusions.
