My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Dallas and I am a 9 year old neutered male long haired Chihuahua who came to the wonderful volunteers at NBSAR from the Macomb County Animal Shelter where I was found as a stray and sadly my family never came for me. It was a difficult time for me - but - I'm happy to say that I'm doing much better now in my awesome foster home who are taking really great care of me!

I am a fellow fella most of the time, I love sitting on your lap, having my ears scratched and belly rubbed, I'm an expert in walking nicely on a leash, I am doing fantastic in doing my personal business outside, and I get along with just about every mellow and friendly dog I've met so far! I like to chase toys in the fenced yard and romp with my foster siblings, but I also like to snuggle on my foster mom's lap while she reads on the back deck too. I snuggle next to your pillow at bed time and sleep the whole night through without so much as a snore, snort, or peep! I'm trustworthy outside of a crate, but I do know how to settle in a crate if needed with a bone and toy and enjoy having the music on as I snooze. I've never met a cat before, as long as they didn't try to chase me I guess living with one would be ok. :-) Kids are great little people - but because of my size and age I would prefer to be in a home with kids 7+ years old who have dog experience in being gentle and quiet as I can be a bit shy and nervous at first.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 7 yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard preferred or active family who takes more than 1 walk a day.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
