Facts about Katie

  • Breed: Border Collie/Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn - With White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female

Katie is a 2- to 3-year-old dog who weighs about 50 lbs. We believe she is a "farm dog mix" with some Border Collie and some Labrador Retriever (among other things) in her pedigree. Katie is potty and crate trained. She is extremely intelligent and super athletic, so she needs mental and physical stimulation to stay happy. Katie is very eager-to-please and handler-focused, so she would be a good prospect for trick training or a dog sport like agility. She already knows several commands and loves learning new things. Katie loves playing with toys and other dogs of all sizes, but doesn't always know her own size/strength so she would be best with a similarly-sized dog. Unfortunately, Katie does have some fear issues with strangers, so she needs careful introductions to new people. Therefore, we think she would do best in an experienced home without small children. But once she gets to know you, she's all love and cuddles.

Does Katie sound like a good fit for your home?

Katie's adoption fee is $150. If you are interested in adding Katie to your family, please complete our online adoption application at www.friendsoftheanimalsjessamine.org and a representative will contact you. This application does not obligate you in any way; it's simply the first step in our adoption process that helps us ensure the best match for you and our beloved foster pets!

About Our Rescue Group...

Friends of Jessamine County Animals, Inc. is a nonprofit federally recognized tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization that was founded in March 2010 by a group of animal lovers. Our Directors, Foster Homes, Officers, and Trustees are all volunteers. Expenses are funded through our membership, adoption fees, and donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our pets live in foster homes so they can be met on an appointment only basis. We also participate in several adoption and fundraising events throughout the year. You can find us at PetSmart in Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville, KY on most Saturdays between 11ish-4ish.

Our Adoption Process...

The normal adoption fee for dogs/puppies is $175/$225, which includes Spay/Neuter, UTD on shots, Heartworm tested, microchipped, AdvantageMulti application and any additional vetting deemed necessary (dental work, medications, etc.).

The normal adoption fee for cats/kittens is $75 which includes Spay/Neuter, UTD on shots, Feline Leukemia tested, Feline AIDS tested, Flea/Tick treatment and any additional vetting deemed necessary (dental work, medications, etc.)

Discounted adoption rates are often offered during special events/times. During these events we may offer reduced rates for seniors, kittens, adult cats and/or barn cats.

Our adoption process includes completing an adoption application and waiting for approval. Friends of Jessamine County Animals, Inc. wants to place all of our animals in homes that are best for the pets as well as for the family. We try very hard to make compatible matches to ensure lifetime commitments. We reserve the right to decline applications based on the pet's best interest and needs. Home visits, vet references and landlord approval are required before animals are adopted.
