My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy's mom is elderly & in poor health & can no longer care for her, even though she loves Lucy very much & is broken up about having to re-home her. She has taken excellent care of her over the years & reached out to ADORE for help in making sure Lucy will be loved & taken care of for the rest of her life. Lucy is 10yrs old & a good, good girl. She is quite healthy, as a matter of fact she just had a check-up & blood work & the dr said she looks great! She's current on all of her immunizations & hw/flea medication (she's hw neg) & spayed. Lucy is very calm & laid-back but is still youthful & enjoys going for walks & playing with stuffed, squeaky toys. She loves it if you throw them to her & then let her bring them back for another toss. She *especially* loves toys that resemble squirrels. She's never exhibited any aggression towards other dogs or people. Lucy is housetrained & doesn't have any accidents in the house. We know Lucy will be sad to leave her mom & home & hope we can find her a family who will love her every bit as much & give her a wonderful life.

Our adoption process works a bit different than other shelters and rescues! Paddy's Paws serves as a coordinator for Houston rescues. We send out the applications, arrange home visits and secure back up fosters for each of the dogs that will be transported here. Like most foster-based organizations, we do not have a facility and set up all appointments on an individual basis. Prior to any meet and greets, we require an approved application so we will need to go through all the steps before having you meet any of the available dogs here in Wisconsin.

If you would like to begin the preapproval process, you can visit this link to fill it out: http://bit.ly/1IIlGFS

We start with the completed application and then check references/vet records. The next step is a homevisit with family and one of our representatives. Once we have gathered all this information, we provide it to the Houston team. Then, we can set up a meet and greet with available dogs.
