Hey! It's Nala, here! I am big and beautiful, with cool brindle markings that make me look a bit like a tiger! But better than my head-turning good looks is my great big heart. They say that my name - Nala - comes from Africa and means 'beloved,' which suits me because I give back 10X the love that I'm given.
I am an 9 yr. old (March 2016) Pitbull/Boxer mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation in the Mojave Desert. With a soft bark that belies my size and good manners that would impress even the discerning ladies of Downtown Abbey, I will surprise and delight you from the moment we meet!
I am an enthusiastic walker and a loyal companion. I love people and am great with men, women and children alike. I am selective with my dog friends and prefer a controlled meet and greet first to determine a fit, but I'm definitely open to new friends! But no kitties, please.
I love spending quality time with my people - car rides, walks, hikes, playing in the water and whatever else they like to do. I am very smart and am exceptionally well trained; I have my Good Canine Citizen certificate and even know sign language / hand commands.
NOTE: Nala is a graduate of Paws For Life, a dog training program that partners Karma Rescue with LA County correctional facilities. Upon graduation, Paws For Life dogs are certified “AKC Canine Good Citizens.” This designation means they know basic commands, hand signals and good manners as taught to them by the select group of inmates and skilled trainers of the Paws For Life program.
