My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Woody, one of 8 Forest pups! A rescue person in rural Georgia found 8 six-week old puppies, left alone in the woods. After getting their shots and check-ups, they were brought to Chicago on an 18 hour transport relay set up just for them. Thanks to the care they received during the past 3 weeks, they are very friendly, well socialized, and love human attention. They have typical puppy energy, but as soon as you pick them up they melt in your lap.

Woody will be about 12 weeks old on September 1st, and currently weighs 11 pounds. He is the smallest pup of this litter, and also the shyest. But once he learned that laps were made for sitting in, and people were there to pet him, he stopped being shy. In fact, he quickly became his first foster mom's favorite. Who can resist a snuggle baby? Woody's siblings look like they are part hound, although he does not. Since we can't even begin to guess at his parentage, he is a true Heinz 57 Variety. Only those wiling to take pot luck in terms of his ultimate size and breed need apply!

Because he is so young, Woody will need a family where someone is home part or all of the day to get him on a regular schedule for potty-training, and to keep him exercised and socialized. Puppy obedience school is also required.

You can meet Woody at his current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd., during normal store hours (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Though you may want to take him home for a snuggle, please know you will first have to go through our normal application process.

His adoption fee of $350 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative and neuter.
