My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zelda is a young adult, white female German Shepherd Dog.  We believe she's around a year and half old -- still a growing adolescent.

She enjoys going for walks, and is good on a leash.  She gets along well with the neighborhood kids, once introduced properly.   We think she would do best with older, considerate kids.

She also does great with the cats in her home.  She gets along beautifully with all the dogs she's met too.  In fact, she seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs in her foster home. She would do well in a home with another dog, because she loves to play.  A confident dog-buddy also helps her feel secure and safe.

Zelda is very quiet, which is unusual for a German Shepherd. She has barked only once since living in her foster home. (This may change as she gets more comfortable in her environment and her confidence grows.)

Zelda is a little unsure of herself.  She's fairly shy when introduced to new people or new situations. She would do well with an adopter who has the patience to build her confidence and let her come out of her shell when she is ready.  A positive-method obedience course would be terrific to boost her self-esteem.  We think she would appreciate an adopter with gentle, patient personality.

Like any young dog, Zelda is still learning what objects are okay to chew (shoes are especially interesting to her).  Her favorite activity is spending time in the yard with her person.  Zelda likes to chase lizards and frogs to keep the garden critter-free.

She is house-trained and up-to-date on her vaccinations.  She recently tested negative for heartworms.
