My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. They're new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Kansas rescuer in saving Joey ...she could see that his temperament was so kind and sweet that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized.

Joey is the kind of very endearing pup that will lie close on the couch and give a periodic kiss...he's a very loving guy! Joey was immediately brought to be vetted and then to a great Kansas foster home to receive pure love and begin his education. It turns out that Joey, at only about 9 - 12 months old and 30 lbs. (the perfect size to hike the Colorado trails like a champ.. and then enjoy lazy down time with his favorite people) is quite calm (particularly after exercise) and so sweet and sensible that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom.

Joey is like a blank slate at barely a year old...open and curious about everything around him and SO smart! He's incredibly entertaining when he gets going. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, Joey will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.

Joey is an adorable Border Collie/Corgi mix pup with a shining coat with the most beautiful markings we've ever seen! This speaks of good health and youth. Joey's sweet demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more analytical..and then overjoyed once comfortable in a new situation. If Joey is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for our sweet boy. We also feel it's very important that Joey is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities.

Joey can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere.

We've requested that Joey be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We don't feel optimistic that this will occur...just too many dogs and not enough vets in rural Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Joey's neuter and microchip at our Denver vet upon his arrival in Denver.

Joey will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 9/8/15. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
