My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing that Frannie the Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix wants to make clear is that she's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the darkest charcoal black and whitest of white that run through her gorgeous coat. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Frannie's coat will show its gorgeous colors.

Everything is new to Frannie...her adorable little nose (with the cutest spots ever..you just want to kiss it!) sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, she is next to you on the couch. She's so happy there because her human (and canine) relationships are so important to her. We have to remember that Frannie comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. This 7 month old, 30 lb (anticipated adult weight 35 - 40 lbs--what a perfect size for a Colorado dog!) Border Collie/Aussie mix truly lights up whens she feels likes she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Frannie is working on mastering house skills.

Frannie's foster mom has the following to say about Frannie:
Frannie is doing great. She just needs patience and love and she blossoms. I sit with her and we talk about what a wonderful girl she is and what a great future she has to look forward to...I'm not kidding that I think she understands! Just a bit shy initially (but she should be after what she's been through)...and then the sweetest love! Frannie is so kind and cuddly Belly rubs and treats also are a gift to this puppy who has never had this kind of caring.

Frannie really enjoys (and even loves) my 2 dogs and they all have the greatest time playing in my yard. Frannie is very respectful of them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of her respect and gentle nature - when they tell her they have had enough play time, Frannie backs off and keeps herself busy in a positive way.

You would also expect a young Border Collie mix to be a bit crazy and have tons of energy..this isn't the case with Frannie. She has exactly the right amount of energy. She's so responsive..if she jumps on me, I just have to say no and she responds. She also learns general command in about 2 minutes..no kidding. It must be about the natural intelligence (and inherent great personalities) of these working-type dogs.

I actually think Frannie is somewhat calm for a 7 month old. She loves to play, run and beginnings of frisbee play...but then loves to cuddle equally. Her temperament is really developing! I just have to walk into the room and glance at her...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile (now that she knows and loves me). She is such a sweet girl - anyone who welcomes Frannie into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog!

Frannie's SUMMARY
Blue & brown-eyed Frannie is such a people dog. She enjoys quiet kids of all ages (no tail-pulling please) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle her kindly. We envision Frannie with an active retired couple or individual or a family with a bit older kids who want a beautiful and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her family. Being a Border Collie/Aussie, Frannie loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. She would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes and agility class. She would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please.. she would excel. Frannie would also be overjoyed to hike along Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with her people. Her nature, while initially a bit shy, quickly becomes very joyful and her silly and fun nature takes over.

We received Frannie's final foster summary and new photos..she's such a cutie!
Frannie has become super friendly and engaging in her time with us. She doesn't express unusual shyness or fear at all. She has come out of her shell in a huge way and very quickly! Frannie is sweet, fun and has a tail that wags with good-will. She's a gift of love for a kind and committed family!

Frannie will require periodic brushing (which she seems to really like) and great nutrition (salmon oil would be perfect) to keep her coat healthy, shiny and cottony-soft.

We've requested that Frannie be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in these rural areas. In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfels is happy to cover all costs for spaying and a microchip for Frannie if our Denver vet is used.

Frannie will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/8/15. If interested in this fun-loving, sweet and very devoted puppy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
