My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Malibu is a 4 year old Appaloosa filly who is very level headed and easy to train. She's 14 hands tall. Malibu has received 30 days professional training and is currently doing well with walk/trot/lope, back up under saddle. She has an excellent stop and is very confident with obstacles on the trail. She's sound and healthy and will be a great horse for her new owner. While she's still too green in her training to be called a kid's pony right now, she definitely has potential to be a great kid/beginner horse with more ride time. She's already been ridden by inexperienced riders under a trainer's instruction and did well. She's started over crossrails and we think she has potential to do well jumping as she seems to enjoy it. She's been ridden Western and English.

Our horses have received their basic vaccinations (Rabies vaccine, EWT combo vaccine) at the time of adoption. They have been dewormed and have a negative Coggins test as well. All horses have received a hoof assessment and trimming. Horses are also microchipped.
If you cannot adopt but would like to help, consider sponsoring a horse by donating through the sponsor a pet button. This money will help us provide for this horse and others - even a small donation goes a long way towards helping us save more pets!
We do our best to determine what amount of training they have had and to represent them as accurately as possible. However, we usually do not know the history of our horses, so we determine training by how the horses act after we get them. Please call ahead or email to set up a time to meet our horses if you are interested in adopting. They are at foster homes so we may need up to a couple days notice in order to schedule a time for you to see them.
We desire for our horses to find a good home where the horse will be a good fit with the person adoption him/her. With that goal in mind, we do our best to accurately represent everything, good and bad, with our horses. Since they have received a full vet exam, many times there are health problems recorded here. The vast majority of horses have at least some health issue, though most sellers are unaware if the horse has not recently received a full examination. Therefore keep this in mind if we report a horse has some soreness or lameness issues - our horses are likely not less sound than other horses on this site - we simply examine them and report all concerns.
As part of helping new owners find a horse that is a good fit, we offer several valuable services included as part of the adoption fee on our horses. We offer a 1-2 hour training session with Alexandria Dodgen who trains using natural horsemanship techniques. She will help you learn to handle your new horse in a way that gets your horses listening to and respecting you. Our goal is to help you and your new horse have the best start possible and to help you find a horse that will be a great long term fit for you and your family. Offers for training are dependent on you bringing the horse to the trainer's facility (or potentially paying an additional house call fee at your expense). In addition to the training session, CARE also provides two weeks free boarding until you can pick up your new horse. Adoption fees are sometimes negotiable to the right home. For more information, please email us at drkathyjordan@yahoo.com You can see our adoption applications and and more info about our rescue on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org. To make the adoption process faster, you can submit an adoption application through our website. This in no way obligates you - it simply gets you approved to meet/adopt our horses. You can also call us at 864-972-9994.
