My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fred is a doll! Fred is about 7 years old and weighs 10lbs. He is a very well adjusted dog despite what he has been through. He arrived as a stray to a high kill shelter with tremendous wounds on his shoulders as if he had been attacked by other dogs. The wounds did not heal properly in the shelter and someone at the shelter stitched his skin to his muscle on one side which made the skin adhere to the muscle and constricted his range of motion with his front legs.
When Fred arrived to St. Martin’s, he was examined and it was determined that his wounds needed to be opened up, the scar tissue removed and restitched properly. He also was neutered and had his teeth clean with one tooth needing to be extracted. Fred is up to date on all vaccines including rabies and is also microchipped.
Fred has had it pretty rough, but he is just amazing! He loves to see his people and wags his tail! He is great with other dogs and cats. We have not seen his playful side yet, but he is still in the process of healing. His range of motion has improved and will likely continue to improve over time. He enjoys bully sticks and treats. He is good with all people and children. He has a wonderful temperament and rides well in the car. We do not know how he is on a leash yet because we have not leashed him as he is healing.
Fred will not be ready to adopt until the beginning of October. Fred has poodle hair and will require regular grooming and flea control. Fred should also continue to be fed a high quality dog food in his adoptive home. Fred’s adoption donation will be $200 and if you would like to meet Fred then please email stmartinsanimalrescue@hotmail.com for an application.
