Nugget's Story...
This little fellow is Nugget, a 9-year-old Maltese who was surrendered to Kiko due to a move. He was always an only dog but has adapted very well to life at his foster home with the other little dogs, and even the cats too. Nugget enjoys going for walks as much as he enjoys keeping his people warm on the sofa – he’s just happy being wherever everyone else is. Nugget is friendly, playful, clean in the house, and not a huge barker but enough to make him less suitable for an apartment. One of his favourite resting spots is along the back of the sofa for a birds-eye view of the goings on. He is good with dog-savvy children but older ones would be best as he is only about 12 pounds. He would make a great pet for a retiree or someone who is home part of the day, especially if he is to be an only dog. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if you are interested in adopting Nugget the Maltese.

All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed, tested for heartworm, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $400 ($275 for senior dogs and $125 for cats) and an adoption contract.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nugget, a Rigaud Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Rigaud, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Rigaud.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rigaud already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rigaud breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rigaud paves the way for another one to be saved.
