Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*****Adoption Pending*****
Cooper is a one year old male aussie that was an owner surrender. He has not had as much exposure to the world as he should have had as a puppy and he needs a family that can show him around. Cooper is a med to low energy aussie who is good in the house and comes when called off leash. He is good with cats, quiet in his crate and walks fairly well on a leash. He does tend to jump up on people . Cooper is exhibiting some fear behaviors (barking, some growling) around people he doesn't know and young kids. Cooper has not spent a lot of time with young children and they make him a bit nervous when they stomp, jump and get loud. He does bark loudly when scared and he does bark at kids and at visitors to the house. Cooper needs a home without young kids. With no reaction from the visitors and no forced contact he calms down quickly and approaches the stranger on his own for attention. He is less worried about women than men but with more exposure this young dog will only improve and learn better ways to deal with his worries. Cooper was reported to be leash reactive with other dogs (barks and hair stands up) but he has great social skills when off leash and is currently living with 5 other dogs. He avoids any conflict attempts from “monster dog” and plays nicely with all size dogs and even a visiting puppy. I think Cooper is a very stable dog who just missed out on his early socialization opportunities. With humor and understanding Cooper will learn alternate ways to approach his fears and will be a great dog for some lucky family that is willing to invest a little time and training.
