I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Dottie's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Dottie's Story...
I'm a diva with a flair for entertaining. I love to make people laugh with my antics- and although I might be an old lady, but I've got more liveliness than any puppy in this building! Ask me to "sit pretty"- I love to show off my tricks (just be sure you've got a cookie for me afterward)! I'm looking for a home where I can be the star of the show (and spoiled rotten).

How I came to ADOPT Pet Shelter...There's a lot of abandoned animals & unwanted puppies where I come from, and not a lot of people adopting dogs from the pound. The nice people at IL Animal Rescue saved me from an animal control center in southern Illinois & drove me all the way here to find a family!

My best trait is... I'm a diva with a flair for entertaining. I love to make people laugh with my antics- and although I might be an old lady, but I've got more liveliness than any puppy in this building! Ask me to "sit pretty"- I love to show off my tricks (just be sure you've got a cookie for me afterward)! I'm great at coming back when called, and I make a great doorbell- I'll always let you know when your guests are arriving!

I need... a home where I'll be the star of the show- I want to be spoiled rotten! A little extra sensitivity would be great, too- everybody has their bad days, me included! Every once in a while I get a little jealous about sharing my person with other animals, and I get grouchy about having my teeth checked. I just need a family that will give me a little space if I'm cranky but shower me with attention when I'm not.

My dream home... will have a wardrobe of dresses, sweaters, and ski vests to keep me warm and fashionable. Seriously, I love to dress up. The only thing more important to me than being stylish is being comfortable, so I hope my new home has an oversized, fluffy bed (my favorite one here at the shelter is just a big bean bag!) Rumor has it that I enjoy watching TV on the couch tucked in under a blanket.

Here's how I'm doing with...

Cats: I'm great with cats! I'm very outgoing and friendly with them- I don't even chase them (I might be the only terrier mix in history with that claim to fame)!

Dogs: I'm pretty good with other doggies, as long as they're calm and friendly like me! I had a slumber party with my vet's big old dog and did great (I did get a little bit excited and try to hump the other dog, but just once! Then I remembered my manners). No young pups in my retirement years, please!

Children: I'm a fabulous lady just trying to enjoy my golden years! I don't mind a visit with munchkins every once in a while, but I'd rather not have to live with little ones (under 10 years)- they disrupt my peace & quiet while I nap on my big bed, and they're always trying to steal my spotlight!

Housetraining: My vet says I was an angel when I came over for a sleepover! I did great with relaxing in my crate when home alone, and I was practically perfect with housetraining- I only had one accident the whole weekend!

If you have questions about our dogs or adoption process, the quickest way to get more information is to call our front desk at 630-355-2299. You can also visit us online at www.adoptpetshelter.org and look under the Adoptions menu or email our adoption counselors at dogquestions@adoptpetshelter.org

The first step of the process is to stop by our shelter anytime during adoption hours to meet the animals and talk with an adoption counselor to find the pet who’s the right fit for your family. After selecting an animal to adopt, the adoption counselor can place the pet “on hold” for you for a couple of days while we process your application; we’ll talk to your references, have our medical team review the pet’s file to make sure they’ve had all their vaccines & have been microchipped, and tie up any loose ends to get the animal ready to go home. After you’ve been approved, we’ll call to schedule a time for you to pick up your new pet!

(If you currently have a dog, we would ask that you please leave them at home during your initial visit. Once you've picked out an animal and placed a hold, the adoption counselor will help you schedule an appointment to come back with your dog for an introduction at a later time).

Our shelter is located at 420 Industrial Drive in Naperville, IL, and our adoption hours are:

Monday & Wednesday: Closed
Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Thursday 12:00 – 8:00 pm
Friday 12:00 – 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday 12:00 – 3:00 pm

Thank you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dottie, a Naperville Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Naperville, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Naperville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Naperville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Naperville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Naperville paves the way for another one to be saved.
