My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willa (who looks like a classic black labrador retriever) is named after the author Willa Cather by her foster peeps. And she is one lucky dog. She and her brother Tucker were once at the city shelter but were whisked away by an adoring couple who fell in love at first sight (that is. . .the couple fell in love first, they got married, then they fell head over heels for 8 week old pups Willa and Tucker). They have been in that foster home since they were 8 weeks old and have had 2 cats and another resident dog to play with day and night. Willa, as you can see in her pictures, is a classic black lab with some white on her chest and white paws in places. Her brother is a standard schnauzer/black lab with a scruffier face like a good ole Southern dude who hasn't shaved in a month of Sundays. Now look closer in these pictures and you will note (if you love books) that Willa is at Lemuria Bookstore in Jackson, Ms, one of the nation's finest independent bookstores. She hung out with the employees this Saturday for 4 hours so she'd have some time away from her brother who just got adopted. She is about 5 months, is almost totally housetrained (always if you remember to take her out and praise her), already knows how to "sit," and is most eager to continue that training. She is quite attentive to commands, requests, and well. . .affection. She is on heartworm preventative, is up to date on all vaccinations, has been lovingly cared for, loves kids, big people, other dogs, cats. She is heartworm negative. Healthy as can be. If I were to write her a resume, say for a job, I would say, she's as perfect a pup as I've had the pleasure to meet. She loves having other pets to play with and what's more, she has all the potential to become a service dog, a therapy dog, anything. . .as well as a fine companion dog. She is currently located in Jackson, MS, but transport to New England or Chicago can be arranged through Animal Rescue Front. If you're interested in taking him into your forever home, please fill out the adoption form here: http://animalrescuefront.org/forms/
