My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daphne is a whole lot of perfect packed into a little 11lb. body. When we met her in a high kill shelter, she was completely matted down to her skin. Our vets estimated that she had been wandering on her own for many weeks given her physical state. Despite being weighted down by heavy, dirty hair and unable to see because of the mats covering her eyes, Daphne was such a happy, loving girl that she immediately won our hearts. Our 3 year old Shih Tzu absolutely adores all people -- kids and adults alike. She is a mild mannered love bug who thrives on affection and praise. After her time as a stray without human companionship, she is now happiest being in the company of her family and would do best in a home where people are coming and going throughout the day. Daphne is a smart cookie who is eager to please and highly trainable, particularly if she is rewarded with cuddles. Being the happy go lucky love sponge that she is, she has been fantastic with dogs, large and small, and gets along with cats. She is housebroken and crate trained, though she is not destructive and would be perfectly happy napping on the bed until her family comes home. After four corrective cherry eye surgeries, Daphne's eyes are now perfect but her new family should be dedicated to having her groomed regularly and keeping the hair around her eyes trimmed. She is also spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in our Daphne girl, please fill out an application at ruffstarthappytails.org.
