Murphy's Story...
Check out our new arrival Murphy! He is about 5 years old and is a Sheltie mix (pretty close to pure bred if you ask us). He was a stray that arrived to a rural shelter, not in the best shape as far as his coat goes - he was quite matted up. He received a great brushing and the mats were cut out - and well - look at him! He is gorgeous. Murphy will need a home that will be dedicated to his grooming needs so he does not end up like that ever again. Murphy is good with other dogs in the foster home, cats are unknown. We will have updates soon as he settles in as he is still new to our rescue. He is available for adoption now - please get started with an online application if you are interested in adopting him @ www.henricohumane.org

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Murphy, a Richmond Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
