My name is Lucy Lu –I’m now about 11 years old and I came to YROA a little over a year ago. I’m looking for my retirement home and a human or two that will love me even though I’m not an active or super affectionate gal. I really would love to have a home with people that are OK with me just being there with them and don’t need me to jump in their lap.

I’m a Yorkie Mix that weighs 10lbs. I’m spayed, up to date on shots, had my teeth cleaned and I have a microchip too. I have some health stuff you should know about: I’m a survivor of mammary cancer but the vets say I’m cancer free for now, I’m losing my close up vision probably because I’m getting older and my hearing is not a sharp as it use to be (my foster mom says I might be selective in what I listen too …hehehe). I have stiffness in my shoulders and hips also age related but I get around just fine. I have a condition called Dry Eye that requires eye drops 2x a day for the rest of my life. I don’t mind the drops at all especially if you do them right around breakfast and dinner – I’m very food motivated but not protective or aggressive.

My foster mom says I am her grumpy love. I really like my sleep and if you wake me up I might grumble or growl at you but its just because I’m a really deep sleeper. I can sleep more than 8 hours a day and also sleep thru the night. I like to sleep in my bed on the floor and will put myself to bed even in everyone is together in another room. I’m kind of a loner but if you have another dog I might follow it around the house and take some cues from their routines. I love when my foster mom picks me up and lets me give her kisses and nuzzle her chest but I really don’t like to be held too long.

I like having a routine! My foster mom says I’m really an easy gal. I know when she takes me outside that means “go potty” and I’m pretty quick about it too. I usually need to go out shortly after I eat, she says that’s one of my “quirks”.

Speaking of quirks: I can see myself in the mirror and will go from room to room looking at myself. My foster mom thinks I may have been abused in the past but I’m really doing well trusting again. I use to yelp and scream if anyone touched my tail, rear end or face. Now I’m just a little wiggly and sometimes skitter away or use my paws to push your hand away from my face. I’m even OK now when someone strokes my head; that use to scare me too. I don’t like going in the car but I’m not as scared as I use to be of that either. My foster mom says I’ve come a long way. I would do best in a home with adults only. I have not been around cats inside a home but dint show interest in them in the neighborhood.

If you have interest in meeting me I’m being fostered in Seal Beach, CA. My foster mom and me would love to meet you. You can fill out an application at: www.yorkierescueofamerica.org
