Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shelby is a 16 lb Maltese mix born in March 2015. She was surrendered to a shelter by her owner. Shelby came into Dusty Paws foster care as a special needs rescue, requiring surgery to remove her left eye due to recurrent lens luxation and early glaucoma. The photos show her before and after her eye surgery, which was done on September 15, 2015. She is doing well.
Shelby is sweet, friendly and outgoing, and gets along fine with other dogs. She is house trained and will sleep in a crate. On her first walk with her foster mom she gave the impression that she hadn't been out much, as a lot of the noises seemed to frighten her. Her new family will need to take the time to expose her to lot of different situations to get her used to being out and about and used to unusual sounds.
Potential applicants for Shelby should be aware she will require a very special adopter who is willing and able to make sure she has continuing veterinary care. Shelby's remaining eye has loose lens and she may need to see an eye specialist once or twice a year. The eye is responding well to medication (which she may need for the rest of her life), but it is possible that at some point it will need to be removed.
